Dr. Norman W. Walker, Dr. John Harvey Kellog, V. Earl Irons, and Dr. Bernard Jensen have been among the foremost advocates of eating whole, unprocessed foods, raw foods and juices, and detoxifying the body via colon cleansing. Their individual and combined contributions have tremendously impacted the way in which many of us think about and take care of our bodies. Moreover, as evidenced by Dr. Jensen’s description of his visits to Dr. Kellogg’s Battle Creek sanitarium and his good friendship with V. E. Irons (BernardJensen, Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management, Bernard Jensen International, 1981), these pioneering practitioners knew and supported each other’s work. Their respective ages are shown below; it is very telling to see that they range between 91 and 118. In this modern age of increasingly unaffordable health care, this alone speaks volumes concerning the wisdom of their approach to health and nutrition.
